Accessible Facility
It is the commitment of Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center to provide accessible medical facilities and equipment for all members of our community, including those with disabilities. We do this by adhering to federal and state standards in alignment with the Americans with Disability Act (ADA). This means access throughout the building, including all entrances, hallways, bathrooms, patient rooms and other patient/visitor areas such as the café. We provide special beds for patients with mobility limitations who may be unable to transfer safely in and out of standard beds, as well as other medical and communication equipment to accommodate those in need. Please contact Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center Administration at 831-477-2210 if you have any questions regarding disability accommodations.

Visitors
We know your family and friends will want to see you while you are here. Because the successful recovery of our patients is our primary concern, we ask that you remind visitors of a few simple rules:
- You need rest and quiet time for you to heal.
- Children under the age of 12 must be supervised by an adult at all times and are not permitted to visit if they have either a potentially contagious illness (fever, rash, diarrhea, chicken pox, draining wound, lesion, upper respiratory infection, gastroenteritis, etc.) or a recent exposure to a communicable disease, such as the flu.
- If the patient desires, a family member or friend is welcome to spend the night in the patient’s room.
- If you are in the pre-op area, one family member may stay with you until you are taken into the Operating Room.
- Following surgery one family member at a time may be allowed to visit with you in the Recovery Room.
- We always keep your best interests foremost in mind when allowing or limiting visitors.

Bedside Reporting
At Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center, our priority is high quality patient care, patient satisfaction, and patient participation in his/her care. To keep patients and families informed of their plan of care and to promote Patient and Family Centered Care, change of shift reports between caregivers is done at the bedside to involve and include the patient in their ongoing care. The patient may decline bedside reporting if that is his/her preference.
